Crane has given me one of my all time favorite series and while I’m so happy I found it. I can go on for days about how bittersweet this book is, but instead I demand that you go grab the series (which is insanely cheap at Amazon ) and judge it for yourself. No matter how angry I got with our villains my awe of Caleb and Maggie always outshined it. I have read more books than I can count were there was no balance between the romance, the action, the mystery or the drama, but some how Shelly Crane has not only found the balance she has completely redefined it. But again no spoilers.Įven though a lot of the book I wanted to hit, Bec/Marcus this bit of drama wasn’t the focal point of the book. Then you through Marcus disturbed and pathetic tush in it and I was just itching for a fight. I was proud of Maggie for not going all kung fu master on her but one hit would have made me feel a tad better. I mean that whole whack-ass apology at the end made my blood boil. I don’t believe in spoilers so I won’t say exactly what happened to Bec just know that Marcus was involved (of course) and Bec is now my official mortal enemy and the current poster child for jack-assery. Maggie is and of course she and Caleb rushed back to the states to see what happened. Caleb and Maggie are still in London coping with the lose of their cousin when Maggie gets some horrible news about Bec. The story picks up right were Defiance left off. Independence was a fantastic read that made me sad it was over but happy with how Ms. Yes I know I can re-read it, but as my fellow book lover’s know, re-reading a book has nothing on getting to read it and fall in love with it for the first time. *Please give me a second to get over my shock, and varying emotions.* They are determined to make it all work, design a plan toward destiny, and make everything right again for themselves and their family. But neither will let what they need most to be pushed to the wayside. Maggie is torn between Caleb and being the leader of their people. Caleb is torn between leading his family and personal wants. And old flames come calling for more than just Maggie. Enemies who were thought to be dissolved have decided to not go down so easily. But of course, nothing can stay simple for the Jacobsons. And now she must figure out all of Haddock. With everything that happened with Bish and Maggie's father, she's almost reluctant to move on and move out. In the fourth and final installment, Maggie and Caleb must tie up all the loose ends of their lives and make a way to be together completely on their own. Published by Self Pub on December 18th, 2012
