Winnie is this carefree science teacher/ part YouTuber of awesome STEM videos and people person on the surface but underneath she’s a product of a childhood where she learned that she shouldn’t or can’t ask for what she needs. They are poster people for why communication is so vital in a relationship. This was a beautiful, opposites attract, frenemies to lovers, slow burn love story and I ate up every moment.īut really, this book was all about the characters, their dialogue, their honesty and the conversations they had. The challenges that Winnie and Byron took part in together were the perfect way to bring them together though they sort of faded into the background after awhile and that was totally OK. I am SO not a TikTok fan or social media fan in general, but I liked how Reid really made this story relevant to the times and yet highlighted both the positives and negatives to being on social media. Marie and Matt are one of my favorite romance book couples (as are Billy and Scarlett and Sandra and Alex) but I honestly think that Winnie and Byron are my favorite Reid couple and that is really saying something. It gave me a similar vibe to Dating-ish (which is another book that I adored!). It’s smart and witty and has the best character development. Reid is one of my favorite authors and this book is classic Reid. I think Reid said that it is her longest book and honestly, I just wanted it to go on and on forever so that I could get more of Winnie and Byron. This review is probably going to be a rambling of statements about how much I loved this book and this couple because I have so MANY thoughts that I’m not sure I’ll do it justice. In the words of Byron Visser: “You are extraordinary. Sometimes, it takes a public audience to reveal the truth of private feelings, and rarely-very rarely-you should believe what you see online.
